Tom Church wins Patchquick for the Buildbase CCM Team in emphatic style |

Tom Church on the Buildbase CCM made a clean sweep winning all 3 motos
to secure the historic Patchquick trophy. This world famous race, now
in it’s 63rd year has been won by many British & World Champions
including CCM’s very own sporting director Dave Thorpe who had won it 5
times.
The list of winners also includes CCM’s very own British Bulldog from
the 1970’s Bob Wright. With it being over 30 years since CCM last won
this historic event a delighted Tom Church commented: I’m really
pleased to be putting a good run of results together and hope to take
this form to Hawkstone. I made 2 holeshots out of 3, won the first leg
by nearly a minute the 2nd leg by 40 seconds. So I’ve got good
confidence to make an impression on the title challenge.
On the
other hand Tom Church’s team mate Jason Dougan on the Phoenix Tools CCM
was involved in a first race clash with James Noble that resulted in
Jason not being able to take any further part in the evenings racing.
Dougan had really started to come on form after his top ten finish at
the French GP. With his personal sponsor Barry Moore of Phoenix Tool in
attendance and also the main event sponsor the 22 year old Dougan was
expecting to be a serious contender for the top honours.
A
bitterly disappointed Jason Dougan was taken to hospital with a
suspected broken ankle but this still remains unconfirmed as of Friday
12th June. This setback puts Jason’s appearance at the next round of
the British Championship at Hawkstone in jeopardy. The CCM team will
still travel to the Shropshire venue with Jason’s race bikes in the
hope that he will be fit enough to ride.
In contrast Tom Church
had nothing to worry about as he led all 3 races to take a well
deserved win. Obviously this result & the French GP holeshot have
given Tom a much needed confidence booster heading into the next
British round at Hawkstone when Tom will be really trying hard to put
his championship campaign back on course.
Results:
1st – Tom Church – Buildbase CCM
2nd – Martin Barr
3rd – Luke Mellows
