CCM Squad earns valuable points to finish Top British team
Tuesday, 23 June 2009
Buildbase CCM and Phoenix Tools CCM earned valuable points at the German GP held at the Teutschenthal circuit.

Tom Church qualified 15th in the Saturday qualifying race with his Phoenix Tools CCM team mate Jason Dougan still fighting off the effects of his hip injury in a lowly 21st position.

Despite intermittent showers the first MX1 race got underway with near perfect track conditions. Both Church and Dougan made pretty poor starts but TC powered his way through the pack to a final 13th place. Dougan meanwhile battled on with his injury to earn valuable points with an 18th place finish.

The start of the second MX1 race was a disaster for both CCM riders as both were involved in a huge first corner pile up with Dougan at the bottom of the pile. TC was first away and battled on to finish 15th the best overall result of all the British contingent ahead of the CAS Honda pairing of the Mackenzie boys.  However, Jason Dougan had only aggravated his hip and pulled out at about half distance.

Young Alix Dunlop seems to be experiencing Dougan's bad luck in the Women’s World Championship as a crash in each race resulted in finishes just outside the points.

With Ray Rowson expected back in the Buildbase CCM GP squad inside the next 3 or 4 weeks the team heads off on the long trip to Latvia and returns via Sweden in search of more points to push the team up the manufacturers table. CCM’s Managing Director commented: - “We knew it was always going to be tough competing at the highest level in the World Championship, but we’ve scored points at every GP, lead at GP and had top 10 finishes, so this GP experience will only help us in developing our production bike for 2010.
