Buildbase CCM Racing - Little Silver 2010
Monday, 01 March 2010
Tom Church was first to fire a shot across the bow to deliver the fastest time in the mornings’ Q1 timed training session with new signing Stephen Sword finishing in 6th place which set the scene for the first Q2 Superpole of 2010.

Tom having the luxury of an open circuit made a slight mistake on the far side of the track which resulted in him qualifying  in a disappointing  8th  place in Q2 after having set the pace earlier.  Stephen however put in a blistering lap to put him fastest in the Q2 Superpole session showing that the CCM’s are to be taken seriously this year.

Race one saw Tom and Stephen amongst the leaders into turn 1, Stephen tried to sneak on the inside only to find himself in a very slippery rut and lost the front end which left him dead last once he managed to get the CCM fired up once again. Things were no better for Tom after he found himself in the thick of trouble on two occasions on the first lap. With both riders at the back of the field and the track in a very wet condition both riders showed grit and determination to come through the pack ending 9th for Steve and 11th for TC.

TC got away in the first 2 in the second and chased Swanepole , by mid distance TC tried to make his pass on one of the downhills but just couldn’t get in the rut properly at the turn and stalled the CCM restarting in last place to make a credible 13th at the end.  Stephen made a top 10 start in the 2nd outing and rode hard through the pack to claim 4th at the finish.

The start was better for race 3 with TC in the first 4 coming out of turn 1 and Stephen in 6th. SS had problems with his tearoffs in the thick mud on lap 1 and lost a few places still inside the top 10.  Once vision was back, Sword picked off the opposition 1 by 1 to move into 5th behind his team mate. The pair battled hard and picked off Rowson to move 3 and 4 until a mistake by Anderson whilst under pressure from TC let the CCM pair past. TC caught Swanepole and tried everything to get past on the last two laps but just couldn’t make it stick ending the race in 2nd and 3rd for the CCM duo.
Tom and Stephen said “ we came here to win today but it just wasn’t to be but 7 points is not a lot and we are definitely in the running “

CCM’s David Thorpe was very happy with the team’s performance “ it was very tough out there for everyone , we are in this series to win and so we didn’t manage that goal today, but full credit to both of our riders, they both showed that they are capable of winning so it’s going to be a very exciting season for CCM. There are still some things we need to sort out with the bikes  to fine tune them to the riders’ needs, we have to be ready to win at Mallory so we will miss the Hawkstone meet to concentrate on giving both riders every chance to be 110% ready for the next round of the Maxxis, I am very much looking forward to Mallory.”
