Buildbase CCM Racing is delighted to welcome Toughsheet Building Products as the latest sponsor to join the all British team, which continues to make good progress under the direction of ex multi World motocross champion David Thorpe.

Toughsheet, which is based just outside of Bolton, is a manufacturing company that specialises in producing products made from recycled polythene for the building industry. Frank Mercer formed the company thirty-four years ago, and with the help of his three sons the business has grown from small beginnings to now employ sixty-two people. Under the leadership of Frank’s son Doug, the company has spent the best part of the last two decades concentrating on polythene recycling.

Toughsheet is now totally committed to the construction industry, having made a huge investment in research and development along with over three million pounds worth of outlay in the very latest plant and machinery. The current product range includes damp proof membranes, damp proof course materials, speciality films, rubble sacks and jointing tapes.

Talking about the new tie up, Toughsheet’s Managing Director Doug Mercer explained. “I have been involved with motocross most of my life both as a rider and as a keen spectator. I first took an interest during my early teenage years, and if I am honest it was a good distraction and one that kept me out of trouble as a youngster. I still enjoy riding some twin shock events and watching my young nephew who is starting to show some good form. Also we have a motocross hire business in Tenerife – www.motocross365.com - so there is more than one reason for putting the deal together.”

Mercer continued. “I have known the Clews family for many years and have followed the fortunes of CCM throughout its long racing history. With Buildbase having become title sponsor to the team earlier this season, it seems like the ideal opportunity for us to get involved properly as there are some synergies that exist between the two companies. I am really looking forward to being part of the team and being at the races with CCM as they look to put a British team back at the top of the sport.”

Speaking on behalf of Buildbase CCM Racing, Team Principle Gary Harthern commented. “We are delighted to welcome both Doug and Toughsheet to our fold. Their support is greatly appreciated, especially during these difficult times. We hope we can repay the kind assistance of Toughsheet and all other sponsors with some better results as the season moves forward. I know Doug is a big motocross fan, so I am sure he will really enjoy and benefit from his involvement with the team.”
