Worrall gaining more experience for CCM Racing through Desertmartin rain |

CCM Racing registered a race finish in a wet and windy fifth round of eight in the 2008 Maxxis ACU British Motocross championship at the sandy Desertmartin circuit in Northern Ireland last weekend.
Youngster Richie Worrall qualified for the event across one of the most technically and physically demanding courses on the national calendar and acquitted himself reasonably well with a 22nd place finish in Moto1.
Rain battered the Porter’s Pit venue throughout Sunday’s race schedule and a new timing section within the narrow and twisty confines of the layout provided a fresh test for the cream of UK motocross talent.
Worrall placed 33rd in qualification on the CMX250, leaving him quite far down the watery gate but nevertheless part of the start list for the two sprints. In the first outing he started outside the top twenty and steadily completed his laps for a finish of 22nd. His participation in Moto2 was curtailed on the second circulation when he fell heavily and was briefly knocked out.
Team Principle Gary Harthern commented: “It was not the easiest conditions for Richie but they still have to be ridden and this was another part of the learning curve for him. It was encouraging to see him making progress however. He was pushing through the pack and gaining positions. It was the first time he has made a full 30 minute moto and before his crash in the second race it was not such a bad day.”
Harthern also confirmed that the team were scouting possible personnel for 2009 in Northern Ireland. “This was actually one of the main reasons we travelled across,” he revealed “and we are pleased with how the results of the people we are interested in actually turned out.”
